Today, prepare for your transfer to the airport for your domestic flight to El Calafate. Upon arrival, meet and greet your local guide before being privately transferred to the hotel for check in and overnight stay.
This day is for you to explore the wonders of El Calafate. This once-in-a-lifetime adventure begins as you sojourn on the Perito Moreno Glacier, which rises majestically 80 km away from El Calafate. This is one of the largest and only advancing glaciers in the world, as well as the biggest attraction at Los Glaciares National Park, a 600,000-hectare protected area covered by an ice mantle. Start out by making your way deep into the Patagonian Andean forest, where you can take in your first glimpses of the spectacular Curva de los Suspiros (Curve of Sighs). Walk along the catwalks to get close to the glacier and take in the view from a variety of vantage points. When you approach the glacier, walk down the catwalks to approach the glacier and admire it from different panoramic points. Then, up close, witness the various-sized ice blocks loosening and falling into the water with great thunder, forming beautiful ice floes in the deep waters of the Lago Argentino.
Then, to make this experience even more memorable, take a Safari Nautico ride that will allow you to get up close and personal with glaciers. Sail out of Bajo de las Sombras Bay port, 7 km away from the glacier's catwalks, down to the southern side of the glacier. On your way, see ice blocks falling off until you reach the southern point of the Los Témpanos Canal, then continue until you reach the standing point, 300 m away from the southern wall of the glacier, where you shall stop to admire its greatness.
The whole day is free for you to explore the beautiful city of El Calafate.
