One thing to know: not every market stays open for the full journey. Vienna's Rathausplatz market runs through December 26, while Prague's Old Town Square market continues into early January. Many traditional German markets close on December 23 or 24. Rovaniemi in December typically sits between -20 and -10 degrees Celsius, with an average of just 2.5 hours of daylight. We plan for that: warm layering, realistic daily pacing, and activities that work with the light you have, not against it. Aurora sightings remain weather-dependent, and we set expectations honestly rather than promising a guaranteed show.
Harbin
A Shorter Snow Escape
Best for: travelers who want a snow-filled trip without committing two weeks to Europe.
