Spend the afternoon exploring cafés, boutiques, and markets that blend tradition and modern life before settling in for a restful evening.
Day 2: Thimphu Valley
Begin your day at Buddha Dordenma, one of the world’s largest Buddha statues, overlooking Thimphu Valley. Continue to the National Memorial Chorten, a focal point of devotion for locals, and visit the Motithang Takin Preserve, home to Bhutan’s national animal. Explore the Folk Heritage Museum, where rural traditions come to life, and end your day by sending a postcard from the iconic Bhutan Post.
Day 3: Dochula Pass – Punakha
Drive through Dochula Pass, a mountain viewpoint at 3,100 meters adorned with 108 chortens and panoramic Himalayan vistas. Visit Chimi Lhakhang, known as the Fertility Temple, before crossing the Pho Chu Suspension Bridge to admire views of Punakha Dzong and its lush valley like a scene straight from a painting.
Day 4: Punakha
Ascend to the Khamsum Yuley Temple, built by the Queen Mother for peace and harmony. Continue to Sangchhen Dorji Lhuendrup Nunnery, perched high above the valley with sweeping views and intricate architecture, a haven of quiet reflection and faith.
Day 5: Paro Valley
Travel to Paro Valley, home to ancient temples and Bhutan’s sacred heart. Visit Kyichu Lhakhang, one of Bhutan's oldest temples, reputedly constructed in a single night to subdue an ogre impeding the spread of Buddhism. Later, stroll through Paro town’s traditional shops and cafés before returning to your hotel.
Day 6: Taktsang Monastery (Tiger’s Nest)
Hop on a spiritual ascent to Taktsang Monastery, Bhutan’s most iconic landmark. Clinging dramatically to a cliff at 900 meters, this sacred site embodies devotion and tranquility. Hike through pine forests and prayer flags for a view and a feeling you’ll never forget.
