Day 01: Almaty
Welcome to Kazakhstan’s cultural capital. Upon arrival, meet your guide and transfer to your hotel for check-in. Take the rest of the evening to unwind and acclimate.
Day 02: Almaty – Issyk Lake – Almaty
Begin your journey through the Issyk Gorge, once part of the legendary Silk Road. Visit the Issyk Museum to see the famous Golden Man relic and other treasures from the Saka period. Continue to the turquoise Issyk Lake, surrounded by forested peaks, before returning to Almaty for a panoramic view from Kok-Tobe Hill. End the day with a cableway descent back into the city.
Day 03: Almaty – Bishkek
Explore Almaty’s rich past, from the colorful Ascension Cathedral to the 28 Panfilov Heroes Memorial and local parks lined with Soviet-era monuments. Afterward, cross into Kyrgyzstan and continue to Bishkek. Check in and relax for the evening.
Day 04: Bishkek
Immerse in Bishkek’s urban charm. Visit Ala-Too Square, Pobeda Square, and the National Arts Museum before a stroll through Oak Park. In the afternoon, experience local life at the bustling Asian Bazaar, a collage of color, sound, and craftsmanship, before returning to your hotel.
Day 05: Bishkek – Ala Archa – Bishkek
Just outside the city lies Ala Archa Gorge, a national park of snow-dusted peaks and alpine meadows once reserved for Soviet dignitaries. Take a scenic hike, and enjoy the landscape. Return to Bishkek in the evening.
Day 06: Bishkek – Chunkurchak – Tashkent
Drive to the green pastures of Chunkurchak Gorge, one of Kyrgyzstan’s most beautiful highland valleys. Admire the red canyon walls and sweeping mountain views before returning to Bishkek for your evening flight to Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Upon arrival, check in and rest.
Day 07: Tashkent – Samarkand
Board a scenic train to Samarkand, the crown jewel of the Silk Road. Visit Registan Square’s grand madrasas, the blue-domed Bibi-Khanym Mosque, and the sacred necropolis of Shakhi-Zinda. Each site tells a story of empire, artistry, and devotion. Spend the night in Samarkand.
Day 08: Samarkand – Bukhara
Explore Ulughbek Observatory, an early marvel of astronomy, then wander the city’s lively bazaars and teahouses. Visit a traditional carpet workshop before taking an evening train to Bukhara, one of the most atmospheric cities in Central Asia.
Day 09: Bukhara
Wander through the ancient Citadel Ark, the ornate Samanid Mausoleum, and the 12th-century Poi Kalon complex. This city is filled with history, madrasahs, mosques, and merchants that are once part of the great Silk Road trade.
Day 10: Bukhara – Tashkent
Take a morning train back to Tashkent and explore Uzbekistan’s capital, from Independence Square to Amir Timur Square and Chorsu Bazaar. End your journey at the Hast Imam complex, home to the world’s oldest Quran. After a fulfilling day and completing the Central Asia journey, prepare for your transfer to the airport for your flight back home.

Should the minimum requirement for the Access Journeys not be met, our upcoming trip will proceed with the current number of participants. Access Travel will do its best to upgrade travelers to a private tour. However, rates for the private tour are not guaranteed to be the same as the original trip rates.
