Day 1: Baku
Welcome to Baku, Azerbaijan! Begin your exploration at Upland Park for sweeping views of the bay, then visit Heydar Aliyev Cultural Center, an architectural marvel by Zaha Hadid. Continue to the Old City, a UNESCO World Heritage site home to the Palace of the Shirvanshahs and the Maiden Tower. Here, you'll also explore caravanserais, mosques, and baths.
Day 2: Baku – Gobustan – Baku
Travel to Gobustan National Park, a UNESCO-listed site of ancient rock carvings depicting 12,000 years of human life. Visit the Bibi-Heybat Mosque, the world’s first drilled oil well, and the Surakhani Tanker Museum to learn about the Caspian’s maritime heritage. Return to Baku for a quiet evening at leisure.
Day 3: Baku – Shamakhi – Gabala – Sheki
Venture into the highlands of Azerbaijan. Visit Jumma Mosque in Shamakhi and meet the Udi people in Nij Village, one of the oldest Christian communities in the Caucasus. In Sheki, wander through cobbled streets and visit the Palace of the Sheki Khans, famed for its stained glass and intricate frescoes. Your stay is in a charming mountain guesthouse.
Day 4: Sheki – Lagodekhi – Sighnaghi – Tbilisi, Georgia
Cross into Georgia and arrive in Sighnaghi, a hilltop town wrapped in vineyards and red-tiled rooftops. Visit Bodbe Monastery, built in honor of Saint Nino, and enjoy a wine-tasting at Khareba Winery, where cellars run deep into the rock. Continue to Tbilisi, Georgia’s capital that is a city where Persian, Soviet, and modern influences coexist in harmony.
Day 5: Tbilisi – Jvari – Ananuri – Stepantsminda – Gudauri
Begin your day at Jvari Monastery, a 6th-century masterpiece overlooking the confluence of two rivers. Visit Ananuri Fortress, then drive through the dramatic Georgian Military Highway to Stepantsminda, where a 4WD ascent takes you to Gergeti Trinity Church, perched beneath Mount Kazbek. End the day in the alpine resort town of Gudauri.
Day 6: Gudauri – Gori – Uplistsikhe – Tbilisi
Travel to Gori, birthplace of former Soviet leader Joseph Stalin, and visit his museum. Continue to Uplistsikhe Cave Town, an ancient rock-hewn settlement that once thrived along the Silk Road. Return to Tbilisi for the night.
Day 7: Borjomi – Tbilisi
Take a scenic drive to Borjomi, famed for its mineral springs and mountain air. Enjoy a cable car ride with views over Borjomi National Park. Return to Tbilisi Old Town, visiting Narikala Fortress, Metekhi Church, and the modern Peace Bridge that links past and present in one elegant span.
Day 8: Tbilisi
Spend the day discovering Tbilisi at your pace. Wander through Freedom Square, Rustaveli Avenue, and cozy cafés tucked between galleries and heritage façades.
Day 9: Tbilisi
Enjoy a free day for personal exploration: visit the Tbilisi Funicular for panoramic views, relax at the famous sulfur baths, or stroll through Rike Park, where the Mtkvari River reflects the city’s spirit.
Day 10: Tbilisi – Sadakhlo – Sevan Lake – Yerevan, Armenia
Cross into Armenia and stop for lunch in Alaverdi before continuing to Lake Sevan, one of the world’s highest freshwater lakes. Visit Sevanavank Monastery, set on a rocky peninsula with views of blue water and snow-capped peaks. Arrive in Yerevan, Armenia’s capital, for a city visit including the famous Cascade Complex, Republic Square, and the Vernissage Market.
Day 11: Yerevan – Garni – Geghard – Echmiadzin – Yerevan
Travel to Garni Temple, the only surviving Greco-Roman structure in Armenia. Continue to Geghard Monastery, a UNESCO site carved into the cliffs, then visit Echmiadzin Cathedral, one of the world’s oldest Christian cathedrals. Stop by the ruins of Zvartnots Cathedral, known for its circular design and haunting beauty. Return to Yerevan for the night.
Day 12: Yerevan – Noravank – Khor Virap – Yerevan
Drive south to Noravank Monastery, set dramatically within a red-rock canyon. Continue to Khor Virap, where Mount Ararat rises on the horizon, a scene symbolic of Armenia itself. Return to Yerevan and enjoy an evening of Armenian cuisine and conversation.
Day 13: Yerevan
A day to experience Yerevan your way: visit the Cascade’s contemporary art installations, browse designer shops and wine bars, or simply sit in a café watching city life unfold.
Day 14: Yerevan
After breakfast, leave the Caucasus and transfer to the airport. Take a flight back home after a memorable journey.

- Participation numbers will not affect the commencement of the trip. Should the minimum requirement for the Access Journeys not be met, our upcoming trip will proceed with the current number of participants. Access Travel will do its best to upgrade travelers to a private tour. However, rates for the private tour are not guaranteed to be the same as the original trip rates.
